33 Amazing Photos of Keukenhof Gardens

This photo *might* just be my favorite I took at Keukenhof Gardens - I say that, but have thought the same about at least four other pictures. A stone path, covered in lined shadows, is curving to the left. It is flanked on both sides by predominantly pink tulips smattered with yellow and white. Pale pink hyacinths and green bell-like flowers also join the party.

If you haven’t already read my tips for visiting Keukenhof Gardens, you can head over here. This post is focused more on the amazing photographs that can be captured there. And hopefully convince you to add it to your bucket list/travel list!

First of all, Happy Pride Month! With everything going on in the world, I have waited to highlight it, but I think we are ready for a few rainbows! This post will be the first of a few I am planning for this month especially!

I feel like tulips and the Keukenhof Gardens get put in a box (not to mention the box the Netherlands gets put in generally for Amsterdam). People put the gardens in a box of just being a pretty place to see tulips, but it’s so much more-

It’s art
It’s installations
It’s creation
It’s inspiration
It’s expression
It’s a riot of colors
It’s culture
Keukenhof is more than tulips.

Thanks for listening to that little spiel. Yes, these pictures are gorgeous, and I hope you are compelled to visit. But these pictures are only a small portion of what you can experience. Furthermore, they are a riot of rainbows hues, which is just one reason I love gardens in general! They are like a constant representation for LGBTQIA+ pride (obviously not exactly, but colors can do so much good – I even pointed out how some of the color palettes look like pride flags). Even better, the installations, color choices, and theme change every year, so you are guaranteed to get a novel experience!

Do you have a place you love that’s overlooked or pigeon holed? Let me know in the comments!

A warm hued field of tulips dominates the image in hues of deep burgundy, vibrant ruby, pale yellow, a mix of pale and brilliant pink, and spots of white and canary yellow. I am getting some pretty heavy lesbian pride flag vibes here even with the green.

Red petaled tulips with yellow fringed edges fill the screen.

A close-up of a few tulips. The base hue is cream. Lines of blood red run up the middle of each petal, fading into soft pinks. A yellow tinge compliments the pink in some spots, and water droplets dot the petals and leaves.

A pale chartreuse tower is covered in flower boxes and hanging baskets filled with varying shades of pink petals hanging over. A few people stand on the tower, observing the mass of installations around them.

An art piece, mildly tree-shaped, is in front of walking stones on a small lake. The tree is bright green, and instead of leaves at the top, it's in a cylinder. Multicolored birds cover the cylinder in all shapes, sizes, and directions.

Pale yellow and purple-pink boysenberry orchids are fanning across the picture. The center of the blossoms are dark, and the color transitions into yellow. The boysenberry continues in spots throughout the petals. There is one green bud among the blooms. In the background, white, purple, yellow, and pink flowers are hazy.

A single crispa tulip (fringed) is highlighted amid deep green leaves. The fringes on the pink petals are white, and the petals progressively darken to the base.

A bed of white tulips is the focus. The bed comes in from the right side and ends almost all the way at the left of the picture. Behind the white tulips, grape hyacinths are peeking through. In the mid-ground and background, grape hyacinths surround a sea of multicolored tulips. Two tree trunks stand amidst the beds.

A feathery, fluttery tulip shines in the sun. At its center, its lemon yellow, and it transitions into a fiery orange. Tiger-striped red and yellow tulips accent the single bloom in the back.

A pale green, magenta, and white color scheme abound in the daisy-focused picture. The daisies are mostly white, with a few magenta blooms on the edge and underneath the white blooms. In the center of the petals, there is a ring of dark black-purple inside a ring of honey yellow, which is inside a ring of magenta at the base of the petals. It's screaming gender-queer pride flag to me, anyone else? It's got an asexual/demi, agender, and even non-binary feel too.
Purple-tinged daisies are inside some of the buildings too.

Dark pink, almost magenta, double tulips, also known as peony tulips, are in focus in a sea in the foreground. A path of green separates them from grape hyacinths and warm-hued tulips in another bed.

Multi-hued tulips are set against their green stems and leaves. Each tulip is a combination of red-orange, cream, and yellow.

The stamens and pistil of this yellow and pink flower are jutting at the camera. The flower has a yellow-green middle, and it transitions into deep pink. The pink is in spots, and the spots make up stripes up the petals. There is some white spots between the pink lines.
I love this close up!
Light purple tulips are in the left front, and in the background there are red-orange and yellow tulips. Far behind them, pink and white tulips are fuzzy.

A path of grape hyacinths vine through green grass. Stemming off from the hyacinths are beds of different colored tulips, from baby pink and white in the front to red, orange, yellow, and blush pink. Trees are scattering throughout the beds.
Some of the amazing planning done by the gardeners.
The picture is overwhelming warm toned. Yellow daffodils are surrounded by pink, wine, rose red, and pale orange tulips. Orange crown imperials round out the flowers.

Magenta single early tulips shine in the sun. One tulip has darker stripes on the lighter edges.

Magenta orchids grow out of a vase. They have a light base with magenta stripes. Darker stripes line the petals from base to tip, and smaller, lighter lines stripe from the sides.

Dark wine purple and light purple tulips abound in the picture. Most are bloomed, but a few buds are just starting to blossom.

Fringed pale orange tulips fill the picture. At the bases, the tulips are dark orange. A few buds are still green and have an orange tint.

Cream and magenta tulips are bending in the wind. The colors are distinct from each other, but intermingle on each petal.

An electric blue orchid with dark blue-black spots is in focus. In the background, a white flower with a yellow center and a few pink petals are blurred. There's a hint of the pansexual pride flag with the yellow and pink in the background!

I feel like I have used the "magenta" description often, but what other color is there that's pink-ish red with a hint of purple? I'll call this dark pink, though, because it is different than the other colors! These double tulips are brightly lit, with white edges. Three of them share the spotlight, and one yellow center is peeking out. A few dark pink tulips scatter in the background, but the majority of the blurred back are pale purple daisies with sunny yellow centers.

A full, fringed tulip is looking toward the sun. At it's center, red-black stamens are curling out. A few yellow petals are also curling, but the yellow quickly becomes fire-engine red. The ends transition back into bright sunny yellow.

A tree has been shaped into wooden owls. Two owls (one with it's head positioned away and one looking forward) sit at the top of the tree stump, and two smaller owls perch in a cutout lower in the stump. At the base, red, orange, and yellow tulips draw interest.

Unique orchids provide a startling look into nature. The orchids have hot pink centers that branch out like veins into bright blue edges. The middle of the petals are almost translucent. A few small petals in the center are dark, intense teal with lime green stripes down the side. A few blooms are white with hints of pink, teal, and yellow-green. Trans flag anyone?

I was due to visit Keukenhof last time I was in Haarlem, but it poured with rain so I didn’t go. Thank you for reminding me that I need to go next year.
